ever look back at a relationship you had with a friend and realize that it was a lot better then you thought or maybe it was worse? what makes a person your best friend and is that person always your best friend or does that change with time and circumstances? and to call someone your best friend do you have to be their best friend?

Ju-On - The Grudge

I just watched Ju-On, the Japanese version of The Grudge. We went to the American Grudge Halloween weekend in costume which was a lot of fun. We both decided that the American version was better. It had better cinematography and was less cheesy. My favorite part is the stairs. Yep and cheese is good, bacon too.

The Village

Welcome to my first blog as a member of Afraid of the Water.

Some of you might have heard from others or concluded from my ramblings that I am absoultly obsessed with the movie "The Village" - written, directed and produced by M. Night Shalymalan. Well, that may be true, however, I assure you I do have good reason. And those good reasons are what I plan to discuss on this blog post.

I love "The Village" because of it's beautiful wording, it's gorgeous cinematgraphy, and it's amasing story of a committed love. But I love more than that. The thing that hit me when I first saw it was the parallel between Lucius and Ivy's love and God's love for us. Lucius loves Ivy with such a commitment that he would do anything for her. He would go into a deadly wood in order that she might regain her sight. God has that same type of commitment to us! He created us and He loves us so amasingly that He would lay down His life for us - and He did! He came to earth and died on the cross that we might be able to spend eternity with Him! Lucius shows his commitment to Ivy in other ways throughout the film too. Ivy trusts Lucius and knows that he will always be there for her. There are two brilliant scenes where Ivy only needs to streach out her hand in the hope that Lucius will find her and get her to safety, and he always does. (There is one exception to this that doesn't related to our relationship with God, but I don't want to ruin it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.) I think that's the way that God responds to us. When we are scared, in despair, anxious, or whatever; all we have to do is streach out our arm and reach out to God and He will be there ready to help us out, comfort us, bring us to safety. The most beautiful part of our relationship with God is that it doesn't matter where we are at. I can turn my back on God and begin to walk away, but if I realize that I need Him, all I have to do is reach out again and He will be there. His commitment to me does not depend on my commitment to Him. And that's good to know, because I screw up a lot!

I Have A Cool Roommate

So yep, my roommate is cool. One reason is she's a christian. We also have fun movie, coffee, and cookie dough parties. She's a goofy girl and we have lots of fun being nutty. Not that either of us are at all crazy or weird. So if you don't know my roomie Sarah you should.

Snow

It was snowing most of the day today and we've gotten around six inches. This fact really excites my dad because he wants to be able to go snowmobiling. I think we are suppossed to get more snow too. The news said up to 12" or more. Then it is suppossed to warm up on Monday so my dad wasn't really happy about that. We got freezing rain on New Years, that wasn't very exciting. I also learned how to play two new games. One is called Farkel and the other one is played with coins and dice, we used nickels. In the second one you had the opportunity to win the pot of nickels but I had no luck in succeeding. I also realized I haven't left my house since Saturday except for getting the mail yesterday and Monday... that's kinda sad, oh well though.
